A recent study titled “The Future is Now: Technological Transformation in Corporate Travel”, released by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), emphasises the need for the corporate travel sector to adopt emerging technologies to stay competitive and foster growth. The report highlights technology’s role as both a disruptor and an enabler in business travel, with artificial intelligence and blockchain leading the list of key innovations. The study, which surveyed business travel professionals from North America and Europe, revealed that while 88 per cent of travel management companies, 74 per cent of suppliers, and 59 per cent of travel buyers believe their organisations handle technology well, there is still a considerable opportunity to more actively integrate advanced technologies such as AI and blockchain into their travel programmes.
