Indian destination weddings are becoming a major revenue driver for Phuket and nearby Khao Lak resorts, with Marriott properties reporting strong catering income, room demand, and repeat interest from families across India.
Jay Abindan, Cluster Director – Marketing, Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach; Courtyard by Marriott Phuket, Patong Beach Resort, and Le Méridien Khao Lak Resort & Spa, said MICE contributes about 20 per cent of total business at the Phuket properties. At Le Méridien Khao Lak, Indian weddings account for nearly 70 per cent of catering revenue, with around 20 weddings hosted annually. Some events use up to 250 rooms, creating near resort buyouts. Thailand’s connectivity, value, infrastructure, cuisine, beaches, and customisable programmes continue to support further demand.
