Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA) has come up with a new initiative to streamline its database to not only empower members, but also to boost business across the board.
Guest Column by Gajesh Girdhar, Chairman Governing Council & Founder Member, NIMA
In an evolving and highly competitive MICE landscape, the strength of an association lies in how well it understands and engages with its members. Project KYM – Know Your Members is a strategic initiative by NIMA (Network of Indian MICE Agents) aimed at building deeper connections, improving collaboration, and unlocking collective growth across the industry.
Project KYM is designed to create a comprehensive understanding of NIMA’s diverse membership base—their capabilities, specialisations, markets served, experience levels, and future aspirations. By systematically mapping member profiles, KYM helps the association move from generic engagement to targeted, value-driven support.
As part of this initiative, Project KYM follows a structured process wherein NIMA members are required to complete a detailed KYM form, sharing essential information about their organisation, core competencies, markets served, experience, and areas of expertise. Completion of the KYM form is mandatory for all NIMA members. This information is used solely to create an accurate and credible member database.
A key objective of KYM is member empowerment. By identifying complementary strengths among members, NIMA can encourage joint bids, consortium approaches, and cross-city partnerships. The initiative further strengthens industry advocacy and representation.
From a long-term perspective, Project KYM supports capacity building and future readiness. In addition, KYM evolves into a living knowledge repository for the association.Above all, Project KYM reinforces NIMA’s core belief: Our Members, Our Pride. By truly knowing its members, NIMA strengthens trust, transparency and collaboration—laying a solid foundation for a stronger, more connected, and globally respected Indian MICE industry.
