The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) recently hosted MICE roadshows in Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Chennai to strengthen it’s position as a preferred business tourism destination for India. According to SLCB, MICE and business tourism account for around 10 per cent of Sri Lanka’s total tourist arrivals. Held at Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre, ITC Sonar Kolkata, and Pullman Chennai Anna Salai, the events brought together MICE specialists, wedding planners, professional conference organisers, corporate buyers, media, influencers, and trade stakeholders.
A 24-member delegation of Sri Lankan tour operators and hoteliers showcased the country’s meeting infrastructure, hospitality, connectivity, and destination experiences. Dheera Hettiarachchi, Chairman, said the promotions would strengthen tourism and business ties between both countries.
